13 Dec 09 - Cove Pink Panthers 2 vs 1 Frimley Green (Cup)

After a long spell with out a game the girls' first game back would be a cup tie against Frimley Green. The Pink Panthers played Frimley in a friendly before the season started and the scoreline didn't change. The game started strongly for Cove with many chances created, most noticeably a cross from Rebecca on the right came to Racheal but she just couldn't get her foot on it. Cove finally took the lead through Emily, set up by a nice bit of play from Leila. A strong pair in defence in the form of Molly and debutie Danika gave Ayse very little sight of the ball, and when the ball occasionaly came to her, she made some fantastic saves. Emily doubled her tally with another fantastic piece of work meaning the girls went into half time 2-0 up H-T 2-0 In the second half Frimley came back fighting. Claire and Holly prevented some of the Frimley players getting more than a second on the ball. Some more fantastic passing from the girls created more and more chances but the score still remained at 2-0. Frimley pulled one back 10 minutes from time and now it was time to bite at fingernails. But the girls fought on and took the game 2-1. The girls now progress to the next round of the cup where they will play Bracknell Cavaliers. A very good team performance but Star of the Match had to go to someone. It was decided that for a solid defencive debut Danika was given the awarded.

13 Sep 09 - Cove Pink Panthers 3 Winchester City 3
The Pink Panthers started their league campaign against a relativly physical Winchester City. The girls had recently won a friendly in mid-week and wanted to repeat the result today. The girls were very up for it up and it showed. They created an early chance which was narrowly missed by Rebecca. Cove went unfortunatly behind to a good finish, but the girls battled on and there was some awesome teamwork between Leila and Rachael which created some chances but the Pink Panthers just couldn't score. Ayse made some good saves in goal but then Cove found themselves very unluckily 2-0 down. But still the girls powered on and Leila got her reward after some brilliant work from Rebecca. Another goal for Winchester meant Cove went into half-time 3-1 down. In the second half The Pink Panthers came out all guns blazing with Claire, Molly and Holly being strong in defence and right midfield. A shot from Rachael struck the post but Leila followed up and Cove were back in the match. Rachael finally found the back of the net and it went back to being deadlocked. In the last 5 minutes it was time to clutch at straws with Winchester creating chances from everywhere. Finally, the final whistle went and The Pink Panthers had their first point of the season.

Girl Of the Match went to Claire who was very strong and made some excellent tackles.
Game next week away to Burymead. Good start to the season girls!!!
