22 Jan 12 - Manor Colts 4 Cove United 0

Manor came out of the blocks fast and out us under pressure from the start and saw Cove struggle to get of their own half but slowly Cove got into the game and started to create some chances. Lee Jones and Callum Leask came close in the first half but following a goal mouth scramble Manor scrambled the ball over the line so 1 - 0 down at half time  and by no means out of it. The second half was a much more even with Cove creating chances, but Manor broke through and scored to make it 2-0, Connor Jones made three stops on the trot but could not keep the fourth one out and Cove found themselves 3 down. Manor scored again near the end to make it 4 - 0.
Not the best we have played this season, but still not a bad team performance.

15 Jan 12 - Curley Park Ravens 2   Cove United 1

In an evenly matched game that saw Cove create a number of chances during the  first half  which we failed to make count, however our luck changed when George ran into the area to pick up a through ball and was brought down and a penalty was awarded Ryan Berger stepped up but the goalkeeper saved it and it was  0 - 0  at half time and all to play for.
Curley came out in the 2nd half and against the run of play scored, Cove levelled through Ryan after  a nice through ball from Abesh ,the game was end to end, with some tough  challenges flying in from both sides , a mix up in defence saw Tom collide with the forward and a free kick was awarded ,Connor Jones who had played well was beaten by  the free kick and although Cove pushed on we could not get the equaliser.

8 Jan 12 - Cove United 4 Liphook United 1

In a game that saw Cove attack from kick off and put Liphook under a lot of pressure and although we  created a number of chance  we just could not convert them and once again this had one of them days written all over it, however 0 - 0 at half time following a good solid team performance was a good platform to build from.
Cove started the 2nd half like they finished the first but a quick break by liphook and following a bit of ping pong in the area they scrambled the ball over the line and against the run of play went ahead, cove applied more pressure and a good cross into the box put them under pressure and a mix up between the goalkeeper and defender saw him head into his own net to make it 1 - 1.
Some quick passing lead to Ryan Berger rounding the keeper and slotting the ball into the net, this was followed by some nice slick passing and a great run by Lee Jones who latched onto the through ball and on his weaker foot put it pass the keeper,5 minutes from time the game was finished off with Ryan beating two defenders and  the keeper this gave him his 2nd of the day and Cove's 4th

A good team performance all round the defence were solid and Connor Jones in goal for the Injured Arun pulled of some outstanding saves.

11 Dec 11 -Mychett Eagles 2 Cove United 1
In a game that saw Cove have to play the whole match with 10 men on a full size pitch due to 6 players being ill Mychett thought Christmas had come early, however Cove put up a great show, but Mychett took the lead after 15 Minutes and made it 2 - 0.  5 minutes later, a late tackle gave Cove a free kick which was taken by Tom Fitzsimmons the Mytchett defence could not clear the ball and Ryan Berger latched on to it and made 2 - 1.

The second half was a hard fought battle and Cove made a number of chances which just would not go in,as the game went on the boys started to run out of steam and Mytchett started to get on top, but the boys dug deep and fought to the last whistle trying to level the match. I thought Connor, Tom, and Adam played well and did not stop running, I thought Ryan worked tirelessly and deserved his goal, great performances from George ,Lee and Fraser and another great performance from Arun great effort and commitment shown by Callum Thomas and Luke who do not always get the chance to play a full game but when called upon they stepped up and did the job.
This was an outstanding performance by the boys and was the best team performance I have seen this season, and I am sure that had we had a full team we would have beaten them and beaten them well, lets see what happens when we meet them next year at home.

4th December 2011

Liphook 6 - Cove United 1

In a game that started brightly and saw Cove take the lead after 5 minutes through Ryan Berger expectation were high, however some poor marking and some good finishing saw Liphook level the game 5 minutes later.
Liphook took control of the game and were 3-1 up at half time, the boys played well in the 2nd half and were the better team however Liphook scored another 3 and the game ended up 6-1,not a bad performance from the boys
With some good individual performances.

27th November 2011 - Cove United 0 Sandhurst Town 3

Cove started brightly and had a good couple of chances early on which they failed to convert this was a hard fought match and against the run of play Sandhurst took the lead they then went on to  convert 2 more chances and went in 3 - 0 at half time. Cove came out in the 2nd half and really  put them under pressure and created enough chances to level the match, an excellent defensive performance in the 2nd half which saw sandhust reduced to long range efforts, the midfield worked well together, the difference between the two teams today was Sandhurst took their chances. Another all round good team performance against 2nd in the table and also unbeaten so far this season

20 Nov 11 - Crookham Rovers 7 Cove United 1

In a match that saw Cove go to top of the table Crookham who had only just scraped a point in Cove's home fixture expectations were high however the game turned into a nightmare, Crookham scored after 90 seconds and were 3 - 0 up inside 15 minutes Cove struggled to cope with a very physical and big side very different from the team  we faced in the home game.
Cove played some good football and after a spell of pressure in the first half and from a well crossed corner from Lee Jones which Ryan Berger headed into the net, this gave Cove renewed energy but a breakaway attack lead to another goal and Crookham went in 4 - 1 at half time, the second half was much as the first and although Cove gave a good account of themselves the size and the physicality of Crookham took its toll and the game ended up 7 - 1. Cove created chances and never gave up the fight, some good individual performances, and a good team performance.

13th November Cove United 5 - Manor Colt Vikings 0

In a match that saw Cove race out the blocks and take the game to Manor colts, saw Fraser Gibbons play a great through ball to Lee Jones who passed it into the net,the game was close and an outstanding individual bit of play on the edge of the area saw Ryan Berger  control the ball turn the defender and bend the ball in the top corner and saw Cove go 2-0 up this is how it stayed until half time.
The second half started as it had finished with Cove having most of play and applying plenty of pressure a good through ball from George Blows saw Lee Jones put his second away and another from George later in the game saw Ryan Berger score his second and Cove were 4-0 up, callum Leask made it five with a lob shot from outside the area.
A special mention has to be made about the defence who were solid and gave nothing away which gave Cove their first clean sheet of the season, an outstanding team performance all round.
MOM Ryan Berger

6 Nov 11 -Cove united 3 CPR Ravens 3

Cove started the game strong and applied plenty of pressure to their defence which paid off after a nice through ball from Ryan Berger to lee Jones who took it round the keeper and side footed it into the net. This was followed by a through ball from Lee Jones to Ryan Berger whose shot went in after the goalkeeper and defender clashed. A nice free kick from Abesh Thapa made it 3 - 0 and things looked good at half time.

CPR came out in the second half and took the game to Cove and scored within 2 minutes of the start of the 2nd half, although Cove were playing well CPR scored twice more to pull it back to 3 - 3, both teams had goals disallowed, and as the old saying goes its a funny old game and it was.

A good first half team performance and another point on the board.

16 Oct 11 - Hook United Blues 1 Cove United 12

In a match that saw Cove take the game to Hook from the start and apply plenty of pressure this soon paid off when the first goal was scored by Ryan Berger after 5 minutes this was followed by two from George Blows and one from Abesh Thapa Free kick. Cove sat back and some sloppy defending saw Hook pull a goal back, with some words of wisdom from the side lines the boys stepped it up and Ryan completed his hatrick just before half time.

Cove started the second half as they ended the first and Ryan scored 2 quick Goals Callum Leask after a nice one two bent the ball into the top right hand corner,a great through ball from Fraser Gibbons set him up for his second and Coves tenth Ryan Berger went on to score his second hatrick of the game, and George netted his 3rd and his first hatrick for Cove to make it 12.
Abesh Thapa worked hard down the right hand side all game and was instrumental in a lot of the goals, and with an  all-round great team performance and at last a well deserved win.

9 Oct 11 -Cove United 2 Crookham Rovers 2

In a evenly matched game that saw Cove create a hatful of chances in the opening 20 minutes but unfortunately could not take any of them, Crookham in one of there only attacks of the first half scored to go 1 - 0 up and that's how it stayed until half time, Cove came out in the second half and attacked from the start.
Tom Fitzsimmons hit a shot from inside his own half which bounced in front of the goalkeeper and went straight over his head and went in, could this be goal of the season (we will see). This was followed by a great strike from Lee Jones and Cove were in front, Crookham pressed and after a poor clearance from the back and a bit of pinball in the 18 yard box Crookham scored to make it all square, there was just enough time for kick off when the final whistle went.

Another good performance from the team in a game they deserved to win however a step in the right direction and our 1st point of the season.

MOM Lee Jones

2 Oct 11 - Cove United 5 Sandhurst Town 8 (League Cup)

In an end to end match where cove found themselves 4 - 0 down after 17 minutes in unseasonal warm weather the worst was feared, however a nice near post Header from Fraser Gibbons made it 4-1 and that's how it stayed until half time.
After the break Cove were hit by two more quick goals but with their backs to the wall the fight back started Ryan Berger scored two goals in two minutes followed by a quality strike by Lee Jones this made it 6 - 4 a poor clearance by the sandhurst keeper made it a Hat trick for Ryan Berger and that made it  6-5.
Cove were getting the upper hand but with the team beginning to run out of steam in the heat Sandhurst hit us on the break with two quick goals although Cove took the game to them there was not enough time to get it back.

An all round great team performance with some outstanding individual performances against a very strong Sandhurst team, if Cove continue to play like today that elusive first win will come.

MOM George Blows

Pinewood Panthers 3 Cove United 1

In a tight match where Cove had plenty of possession and created a hatful of chances, which brought out the best in Pinewoods Keeper, however it was not until early in the 2nd half that a shot from Ryan Berger was parried by the keeper ,the rebound fell kindly to Lucas White who slotted into the net.
Pinewood equalized soon after due to a defensive error, this was followed by an injury to Tom Fitzsimmons which left us short of pace at the back and Pinewood scored two more goals which were both good strikes. Not the finish we were looking for but a very good team performance
